Practice History
Shelley H. Phillips, D.D.S., grandfather of Spencer T. White, D.D.S., M.S., and father-in-law of Robert C. White, D.M.D., M.S., began a private practice of orthodontics in Greenwood in 1955. Dr. Rob White joined Dr. Phillips in practice in 1983, and they established Phillips and White Orthodontics, PA and practiced together until Dr. Phillips retired in 1992. Dr. White has continued to operate the private practice in Greenwood since that time. In 2018, Dr. Spencer White decided that he would join his father in the practice upon completing his residency in orthodontics in 2019. At that time, it was decided that the practice name would be changed to Greenwood Orthodontic Specialists, PA, and Dr. Spencer White would join Dr. Rob White as a partner in January of 2020. Greenwood Orthodontic Specialists, PA plans to continue to provide the quality of orthodontic care and personal service to patients in Greenwood and the surrounding areas that has been provided for the last 65 years.
Meet the Doctors
Robert (Rob) C. White D.M.D., M.S. is a Board Certified Orthodontist that has been practicing orthodontics in Greenwood, MS since 1983. Dr. White grew up and graduated high school in Greenwood, attended Mississippi State University, and graduated with honors from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Dentistry in 1981. Dr. White then attended the St. Louis University School of Orthodontics and graduated in 1983 with a Master of Science in Dentistry degree in the field of orthodontics and received an Award of Special Merit from the American Association of Orthodontists for his master’s thesis research.
Since moving back to Greenwood, Dr. White has served the community in various ways through the Chamber of Commerce, St. John’s United Methodist Church, and the Greenwood Rotary Club. He has served on the board and as president of the rotary club, as well as being a Paul Harris Fellow. Dr. White also has enjoyed working with the youth of our community, not only through his private practice office, but also through his church and the youth recreational sports organizations. In addition, he has been privileged to serve on the board and as president of the Greenwood Leflore Educational Foundation at Pillow Academy. He has also served on and is currently president of the Greenwood Leflore Educational Foundation Endowment Board. Dr. White looks forward to continuing to serve the community of Greenwood and the surrounding areas in any way that he can.
Associations
He has remained an active member and served in leadership roles in the Mississippi Dental Association, the American Association of Orthodontists, the Southern Association of Orthodontists, and the Mississippi Association of Orthodontists. Dr. White has also worked to improve his knowledge and specialty skills through continuing education opportunities offered by these organizations, as well as the Orthodontic Education Research Foundation and the American Board of Orthodontics.
Family
Dr. White married his high school sweetheart, Teri Phillips, in 1977, and she attended the Samford University School of Pharmacy in Birmingham and graduated in 1981. She continues to work part-time at Downtown Drugs in Greenwood. Their daughter, Ashley Murray, and her husband, Glenn, live in Hernando, MS, where she works as a Nurse Anesthetist and he is a Pathologist. They are parents of twins, Hudson and Ann Claire. Dr. White’s son, Spencer, and his wife, Cari Brooke, also live in Greenwood. Spencer recently completed his residency in orthodontics and has joined Dr. White as a partner at Greenwood Orthodontic Specialists. Cari Brooke works as a Speech Language Pathologist in the Greenwood Leflore Consolidated School District. Spencer and Cari Brooke are expecting their first child in July of 2020.
Spencer T. White, D.D.S., M.S. attended Mississippi State University (Starkville, MS) where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry in 2013. That same year, Dr. White was accepted into dental school at the University of Tennessee (Memphis, TN) and graduated with honors while receiving his Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree in May of 2017. Dr. White was selected to become a member into the prestigious national dental honor society, Omicron Alpha Upsilon, awarded to only 10% of the dental students in the country. In 2019, Dr. White obtained a Master’s degree in Dentistry in Orthodontics from Saint Louis University Center for Advanced Dental Education (St. Louis, MO), known as one of the finest orthodontic programs in the United States, where he received the Rolf G. Behrents research award for his master’s thesis.
Associations
Dr. White is an active member of the American Dental Association, the American Association of Orthodontists, the Southern Association of Orthodontists, and the Mississippi Association of Orthodontists. By continuing to attend workshops and seminars, Dr. White remains up-to-date in the latest techniques and procedures in order to provide the best care possible for his patients.
Family
Dr. White grew up in Greenwood, MS and attended Pillow Academy where he met his beautiful wife, Cari Brooke. They have been together since high school and got married in June of 2016. They have a wonderful dog named Callie and are expecting their first child in July of 2020. Dr. White looks forward to continuing the legacy his grandfather and father have created in providing quality smiles to residents of Greenwood and the surrounding areas.

Paula
My name is Paula. I have been an orthodontic assistant for Dr. White since 1998. I love meeting new patients and seeing their smiles change into something beautiful. The confidence a new smile can give someone is special. Our office is like family. We have a fun and friendly atmosphere.
I grew up in Arkansas but now live in Greenwood with my husband, Bubba, a dog, Cici, and two cats, Dori and Bea. We have one daughter and four wonderful grandchildren. In my spare time, I enjoy gardening and spending time with my family.
Tabitha
My name is Tabitha. I have been an orthodontic assistant since 1997. I enjoy meeting new people and getting to know our wonderful patients. Seeing the patients’ smiles transform throughout treatment is the best part of my job, and there is nothing quite like helping our amazing patients achieve healthy, beautiful smiles.
I grew up in Greenwood, but live in Grenada with my wonderful husband, Trey. We have three awesome kids and two dogs, Remi and Jax. We have a son in college, a daughter in middle school, and a son in elementary. In my spare time, I enjoy fishing, gardening, and spending time with my family.
Debbie
I started working at Dr. White’s office in the year 2000 as the office manager and financial coordinator. I enjoy seeing the patients and getting to know them and their families. It is so enjoyable to see the outcome of patient’s treatment and to know how satisfied they are. We have a family atmosphere here and really love what we do.
I am married to a wonderful husband, Jerry, and have three amazing children, Leigh, Robert, and Andrew. One of my favorite past times is going to Mississippi State athletic events and supporting the Bulldogs.
Hannah
My name is Hannah. I was a dental assistant before joining Dr. White and staff. I have been an orthodontic assistant for Greenwood Orthodontic Specialists since June of 2019. I have enjoyed the pleasure of meeting new patients and being a part of this practice. Helping people improve their health and smiles has been a rewarding experience.
I am from Koscisuko, MS, but now live in Tchula with my husband, Ty, and our two dogs, Brooke and Jeb.
